BIOLOGY CLASSROOM DISCLOSURE

In this class we will be covering the basic concepts of biology. There will be laboratory work that follows along with the text, this will reinforce the material being covered. There are set rules that must be followed in order to give each and every student the opportunity to learn and provide a safe environment to work in.

There are five basic rules:

1. Class begins when the bell rings.

2. Class materials must be brought to class each and everyday.

3. No food or drink allowed in class.

4. Respect others and their property.

5. Be courteous.

More specific rules:

-Any type of verified cheating will result in lose of full credit of assignment or test.

-Test will be returned after everyone has taken the test.

-No walk-mans, radios, and other electronic equipment will be allowed in class.

-Any student leaving the class without the instructors permission will be dropped one full letter grade.

Grading: You will be graded on six items.

1. Classroom assignments: Worth 10-50 points and you can expect to have 1 or more everyday in class. You will be given adequate time to complete them in class.

2. Quizzes: They will be worth 5-10 points each and expect to have one at the beginning of each period.

3. Chapter test: These will be worth 100-200 points. We will have a test at the conclusion of each chapter unless otherwise specified.

4. Presentations: Presentations will be either in a group or individually. These will be worth 50-150 points

5. Attendance: You will be given 50 points at the beginning of each quarter. Points will be deducted for tardies and absenses(Please refer to Attendance Policy).

Grading Scale: This will be followed strictly.

90-100% A 77-79% C+ 60-66% D

88-89% B+ 70-76% C 55-59% D-

80-87% B 67-69% D+ 55-Below F

You are responsible for all absent work.

All absent work for the chapter must be turned in before you take the test on the chapter. You have five school days to make up any test given. Make-up tests may be different and possibly harder than the original test. Make-up will have to be taken before school or in the testing center unless you make an appointment. Late work will only be excepted on the day after it was originally due. All late work will be worth nor more than 50% of the maximum credit. There will be no make up of any assignment, quiz, presentation, and/or test in which the absence is not excused.

Extra credit: Will not be given on an individual basis!!! Do not ask.
