PORTFOLIO ORGANIZATION

Each
student must organize a notebook. i.e., 3-ring binder, dedicated solely to
English.
o
Portfolios
may be reviewed at any time; bring them to class every day.
·
Put
the disclosure document at the front of the portfolio in a sheet protector or
in the front pocket of the portfolio so that it is available for reference if
needed.
·
Each
portfolio should have tabbed section dividers.
The sections should be labeled as follows:
o
Handouts
– On each handout, put your name and the date received.
§ Save ALL handouts.
o
Daily
Notes – You should take notes every day.
o
Writing
Prompts – Occasionally there may be a quiz, but most days there will be a writing prompt at the start of class. Sometimes your writing will be collected and
reviewed. At other times it will be
reviewed when the portfolios are evaluated.
o
Returned
Homework, Quizzes, and Tests
o
Reading
Records
o
Drafts
and “final” drafts of papers
o
Thought
Exercises
o
Other/miscellaneous
items

Portfolios
will be evaluated on completeness, neatness, and organization.
·
Portfolios
are intended to help students learn organizational skills and record keeping.
·
They
also provide a way for students to recognize their accomplishments and
improvements over time.
