Working Toward High School Graduation

Each year you will receive important information from your counselor in an individual and/or group setting, and use this information to develop a personal Student Education/Occupation Plan. This plan will be updated each year, and will help you stay on track as you progress toward high school graduation and your future goals.

Here are the specific requirements for graduation in Alpine School District. There are some differences for each class since new requirements mandated by the state are being phased in over the next few years.

The Course Description Guide is a comprehensive listing of Timpanogos High School courses (including Ed. Net and Distance Learning classes), their descriptions, and the type and quantity of credit earnable from each. MATC classes and Concurrent Enrollment classes are listed separately.

The Master Schedule will show you when each class at THS is offered.

Adding and Dropping Classes can be done as needed according to THS and district policy as follows:

"If a class change becomes necessary the student must consult with a counselor , and if conditions warrant, a class transfer form will be issued. This form must be completed in every detail before a transfer is official. Delay in completion may mean loss of credit. There will be a $5.00 charge each time a schedule is changed. After a term has begun, a parent must meet with an administrator to discuss any class change. Students will receive partial credit and the letter grade earned if class is dropped and/or changed after 10 calendar days. Any new class added after 10 calendar days will only receive partial credit."

If you are behind in earning the credit you need to graduate, check out these options available to you for Making up Deficient Credit. Make sure you check the Counseling Calendar to see the deadline in May when all credit must be finished in order to graduate.

For families with a student about to graduate, hopefully all of your questions will be answered in this Graduation Information section.
