Timpanogos High School Action Plan

What can we control?  Let’s recognize what we can change and focus making improvement here.

Goal #1           Stakeholders will develop and implement standards of respect and responsibility for all THS community members (i.e. attendance, electronic devices, etc. )

DRSL              Character (Students will live in a way respectful of others, and help others achieve their highest potential.)

Rationale          Research shows that student performance is directly tied to attendance and active participation in classes and programs.  Successful community members have learned to live according to established standards.

DRSL              Competency (Students will be competent in every area of their educational experience and make annual progress toward the goal of excellence.)

Rationale          We believe that students will make progress towards competence and excellence when teachers carefully define and communicate desired results for student learning in each course or program, determine how they will measure student achievement, and plan learning activities focused on achieving desired results.

Goal #4           Writing will be emphasized across the curriculum.  Students will have opportunities to write in each of their classes.

DRSL              Communication (Students will be able to communicate in the English language through reading, writing, listening and speaking.)

Rationale          We believe that communication skills are vital for student success.  Writing assessment data indicate many of our students struggle in writing with good organizational skills, including meaningful content, and following standard writing conventions.  Research shows that writing skills improve with practice and consistent meaningful feedback.
